Firewalls

UIT Cambridge offer a wide range of firewall appliances - complete units that include all the firewalling hardware and software. In practice we have found that these offer excellent security and bypass many of the problems of running critical security systems on a general purpose operating system with all its potential security holes.

SonicWALL
A range of firewalls, from tiny for home or telecommuter use, up to very large enterprise systems with redundant power suppliers and automatic failover, for mission critical applications.

Netscreen
A family of very-high-performance firewalls. Recent additions to the range let you divide your network into several separate areas, with full firewalling between each area - for use as demilitarized zones, or to protect sensitive internal departments from other parts of your network.

Watchguard
The Watchguard family includes models for SMEs and for large enterprises.

Cisco PIX
The Cisco PIX firewalls range from compact, plug-n-play desktop firewalls for small/home offices to carrier class gigabit firewalls for the most demanding enterprise and service provider environments. Cisco PIX firewalls have EAL2 and EAL4 certification which is particularly relevant to national and local government users and related sites.
