Perdition is "a fully featured POP3 and IMAP4 proxy server. It is able to handle both SSL and non-SSL connections and redirect users to a real-server based on a database lookup". This paper will look at how to spread users over multiple servers while keeping the client IMAP configuration down to one server name. It will explain how Perdition is used in conjunction with MySQL to achieve this. Finally it will look at the options for load balancing this using:

• Round Robin DNS
• Linux LVS
• Heartbeat.
