Outline

While Exim has always been open-source, the development process started as the product of a single magician and has stayed that way (although contributions have been accepted from many others).

We are now taking Exim development onto a more co-operative basis. The challenges are to make this change without compromising the quality of the product, the support and especially the documentation (which has always been one of Exim's strengths).

The recent 4.44 release was the first release pulled together by someone other than Philip Hazel, Exim's author. The process has shown up aspects of the release process we need to work on, but was a good proof of concept.

This talk will cover the changes in exim development - what we have done already, what we need to do and how we want to bring others into the development process.
