Built upon a hardened, purpose-built operating system for security services, PIX OS, PIX Firewalls provide the highest levels of security and have earned many industry accolades including ICSA Firewall and IPsec certification as well as Common Criteria EAL4 evaluation status.

X Firewalls provide a wide range of security and networking services including Network Address Translation (NAT), Port Address Translation (PAT), content filtering (Java/ActiveX), URL filtering, AAA (RADIUS/TACACS+) integration, support for leading X.509 PKI solutions, DHCP client/server, PPPoE support (coming in Q1 2002) and much more. PIX

Firewalls also provide advanced security services for multimedia applications and protocols including Voice over IP (VoIP), H.323, SIP, Skinny and Microsoft NetMeeting, giving you the peace of mind when deploying next generation converged network services.

Leveraging the integrated remote access and site-to-site VPN capabilities found in PIX Firewalls, customers take can take advantage of the cost savings associated with VPNs as well as extend their networks to new environments including teleworkers, remote/satellite offices and other constituencies including business partners, suppliers and customers.

PIX Firewalls support a wide range of remote access VPN clients including Cisco software VPN clients (available on many platforms including Windows 95/98/NT/2000/ME/XP, Linux, Solaris and Apple Macintosh OS X), Cisco hardware VPN clients (such as the VPN 3002) as well as PPTP and L2TP clients found within Microsoft Windows operating systems.

Administrators can choose from a wide variety of solutions for remotely configuring, monitoring and troubleshooting PIX firewalls. These solutions range from an integrated, Web-based management interface.

(PIX Device Manager) to centralized, policy-based management tools to support for remote monitoring protocols such as Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) and syslog. Administrators can also manage PIX firewalls using a convenient command-line interface (CLI) through a variety of methods including Telnet, Secure Shell (SSH) and an out-of-band console port.
